COMPANY HISTORY
In Ireland I come from a dairy farm background, finished high school and completed a degree in agriculture. I diversed my interests to machinery and completed my apprenticeship as an Agricultural Diesel Mechanic. I worked on the family farm whilst setting up my own agricultural contracting business. After hearing all the stories from friends whom had travelled throughout Australia, I got itchy feet and wanted to see for myself what Australia had to offer.
A brief history on my career in Australia. I started out in 1998 on a working holiday visa working for CASE Agricultural Equipment which was known at that stage before the merger with New Holland. My role there was assisting in pre-harvest preparation, also field service through harvest time.
In 1999 I moved to Sydney and worked in the construction industry as a plant operator on the Olympic Site at Homebush. Six months later I was appointed as Field Service of CLM Excavations. My role with CLM was service, maintenance and development of various types of equipment. In late 2001 I formed my own civil company, FB Heavy Plant. This company started off specialising in sewer and water and later divisioned into vegetation management. In 2002 I was awarded the clean up process after the bush fires, which lead to maintenance of fire trails, major clean ups of bush fires through the ACT, Snowy Mountains, The Ottways in Vic, Glass House Mountains in Qld. While FB's civil division was busy on the T-Ways, M7, Brunswick Heads bypass, RTA's throughout NSW and various sub-divisions for J K Williams, Western Earthmoving, Daracon, Reeds.
In June 2007, FB Heavy Plant was taken over by Waldon's Landscapes in the Newcastle Region. This company is known today as FB Heavy Plant Civil & Vegetation Management and they have grown from strength to strength since the takeover.
After taking some time out in 2007-08 and travelling through Europe I noticed some huge opportunities due to the downturn in the economy and the quality of the equipment compared to the Asian markets. Eireka established itself and developed a relationship throughout Europe to purchase equipment and distribute it throughout Australia.
Eireka prides itself on supplying both construction and agricultural equipment, whilst servicing and ensuring that our clients have the correct piece of equipment for the job at the right price.
Eireka is based in the valley and lakes of the Nepean District of NSW surrounded by the Blue Mountains and is still today a traditional farming and market gardening area.
